Who needs an Interstate Authority Package?
Our Interstate Authority Packages are for motor carriers that cross state lines for-hire. Any interstate for-hire carrier of passengers, property, or household goods must have an active MC number to be in compliance at the federal level, regardless of gross vehicle weight.
Why should I let Interstate Authority take care of the application process?
First, we save you time. Just answer a few simple questions and we will prepare the application and get the MC number issued for you. Secondly, we give you peace of mind. You don't have to worry that your application may contain mistakes that could delay your grant date or get your application rejected altogether. Finally, we save you money. Our service fees are much lower than other reputable registration services. Match that with our unbeatable customer service and support, it's a no-brainer.
How does the Interstate Authority application process work?
Once we complete the application for your Interstate Authority, you will be issued a pending MC number from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). This MC number will remain pending for at least 18-21 days due to the federal protest period. Household Goods and Passenger Carrier applications may remain pending up to 6 weeks.
In order for your authority to be granted at the end of the protest period, you need to have two filings in place.
1. The BMC-91(x), is a form submitted by your insurance company that verifies your liability coverage. (Common Carriers will require the BMC-34 Cargo Insurance verification also)
2. The BOC-3 (Designation of Process Agents) is an electronic filing we can complete to designate the required process agents in every state. This filing is included with every package except the Basic package. Our Basic Interstate Authority package is only recommended for companies that are adding a new authority type to an existing active MC number.
